The A.E. Nelson #83 was my first duty holster back in 1988 for my 4-inch S&W 686, and was paired up with a Safariland quad speedloader pouch (when Safariland used to make actual leather products). The #83 served me faithfully for six years and was a great holster for a 4-inch wheelgun, offering a great ride height and yet allowing comfortable seating in a black & white. Draws through the breakfront were lightning fast as the holster would make an audible "fwap" as the revolver cleared the leather. I'm glad to see A.E. Nelson continuing to make such a classic holster to this day!

This was my first breakfront holster way back in the mid 70's when I worked in Lake Oswego. It was/is the perfect combination of safety and speed. Carried a S&W M66.
